So my Saga begins...
I had to get a new dishwasher, so I got a Lowes Charge. Instant approval. 🎉 $4000 limit, fine
I logged in to Chase CreditJourney and was pre-approved for $19,000 SL, so I used the invite from my wife (it didn't appear to work) and I accepted.
My application was put on hold, likely because of my credit freezes.
I lifted my credit freezes.
I pre--qualified Discover, approved, well...
I applied at Discover... Hard Pull (Experian)... Additional Verification Required. (Ahh)
I called Chase, I did their ID verification (I had to give them permission to hard pull my credit, at least they told me it was Experian), approved.
I called Discover, did the ID verification that they asked for, approved.
I wanted to use the Discovercard over the weekend and the transaction was flagged. I had to confirm that the card was not stolen, it was a legit charge and the AU was legit.
That was 8/2, this morning (8/17), I got a call for Discover telling me that I needed to call in before the end of month (they didn't mention that the card was frozen I found that out AFTER I straightened everything out). They didn't want to tell me why, but I pushed and they told me.
I called the number on the card and they texted me a link. I tried scanning in my license with my phone and taking a selfie. The program said it was accepted, but the ID verification failed. The sent the link again (YOU ONLY GET TWO CHANCES) and hung up. I clicked the link, took new license photos, and went to take the selfie (it told me to "get closer", this time I didn't). I called DiscoverCard AGAIN, they tried (for a while) and couldn't find. So, they sent it again (apparently account managers can override the 2 attempt rule if THEY lose the verification).
So, they stayed on the phone while I scanned my ID (front and back; dark background; bright, but no shadows or light obstructing anything) and then went into a bright room for the selfie (in the smaller box, include your neck; your shoulders should be visible overall; it will tell you to "move closer", IGNORE THAT)
ID verification accepted!
I had to confirm that I added an AU for the 3rd time, but (I think) everything is good now🎉
I know it's probably a minor thing to most, but I think if a company asked me for a "selfie" I'd likely tell them to keep their card.
I did have to do the repeated license scans with Capital One (two months in a row for some reason) which was annoying enough. I can't blame them for being throrough I guess. Kind of surprised they don't make us jump through more hoops more often.

Very nice set of approvals, and great that you got things worked out with Discover, congratulations!
Congrats on the approvals and overcoming the verification requirements!
Congrats on your approvals

I was hitting the "screw you" point and the only reason that I was so tolerant was that it already was reporting on my credit and had the card.
congrats on the approval
