I have a Discover secured opened 6/13/17 that has not graduated as of last statement 9-18-20. 39 months old.
CL is maxed at $2500 and I do not carry a balance. Have several auto paid bills. At one time I was running around
5k per month and making multiple payments. Treated the account more like a checking account.
I was 4506'ed by Discovery on 8/5/20 on my secured card. I was tempted to just close it. After long talk with SO I kept the account open
and complied with their request. Account was cleared.
Fast forward to 10/3/20. Tried the Discover prequal and was prequlified had to call in to verify ID app went to a pending status.
Get a call today on 10/5/20 and new card was approved and in route. Only a 4K toy limit.
If other card does not graduate on next statement it goes to the shredder and account will be closed.

Grats on the unsecured!! I would move to close as you say so you can get your deposit back its not necessary with the new one.
