Calendar alert this week to ask for CLI on my FNBO Scheels card. Went to mobile app to double check my statements on last increase.
There was a $29 late payment charge! How did I screw up Auto pay? I manually made 2 payments last week plus expected an Auto pay of 50 bucks. Balance is about $280 on a fixed BT.
So I called and asked for verification of autopayment because my account shows an upcoming autopayment in October for $50. CSR said because I had edited Auto pay on August 31st the change didn't happen for Sept payment. Ok. My mistake. Then she offered to remove late payment fee. Only 3 days late so nothing reported to bureaus, plus I am current now because I made what I thought would be an additional payment 3 days after due date.
After thanking her for the late fee removal I asked her how long she thought I should wait to ask for a CLI since I was sure this screw up ruined my chances this week. I would just note new date on my calendar. She said let's see what we can find out. Asked me standard CLI questions (income and house payments - in my case paid off mortgage so zero) then said "well good news, you don't need to wait because you are elligible for $5,000 today."
I accepted. This brings my Scheels Visa to $12,000. It started at $3500 in August 2019.
I rarely shop at Scheels but love the fixed for life low interest checks they offer.
My 16 year old grandsons 1996 Dodge Dakota truck is in the shop getting a new flywheel. He replaced the starter himself but the flywheel requires a mechanic with a lift. I will use the current 4.99% fixed for life check to pay this repair and will let him repay me a portion of it over time.
Whenever I post about FNBO I always have to say how much I like this bank.
I opened the Evergreen card in May. Very good starting limit. At this point I don't think I'll ask for CLIs on that card. Between the two FNBO cards I have a SL well over $25,000 now. This is more than enough.
