I have been working on my credit for quite some time now. Started with Fico8 of 560 in January to a Fico8 of 655 today. Today I was pre-qualified and then approved for the Blue Delta Skymiles card (this was the only card given on the pre-qualification page). My current Credit report is as follows:
Baddies
2 CO's from 2014, both paid
1 closed/transferred studen loan also from 2014 that shows 120 day lates (0$ balance)
1- paid car loan that had 10-30 day lates, most recent being 18 months old
Good accounts
1 car loan, 3 months old never late
Discover IT- 750$ CL- 89$ balance-never late-Open 11 months
Capital One Quicksilver-500$ CL- 0$ balance-never late-Open 9 months
Capital One Spark (I was unaware this reported to personal credit until after applying)-2k CL-Never late-2 months old
Student Loan (rehabbed)-Never late-10 years old
I only got a 1k SL but as you can see from above this is my highest personal CL so far. I have read a lot about the 3x increase at 61 days so I will wait for that.

Congrats on your approval! I would see if you can send goodwill letters for the 2 CO's to see if they can be removed. That would definitely give you a bit of a boost in your scores.
Yes, this ^^^^. Plus also the paid up car loan lates. If you could get those removed ... you'd probably be sitting mid 700s. It's worth a letter writing campaign.
And Congrats! pgt on getting in with Amex. Just know that 61 x 3 is not a given -- I can personally attest.
Thanks. I did send both CO (Merrick Bank and First Premier Bank) Goodwill letters. I received both responses last week which was "Sorry these accounts are reporting accurately". From reading on here it appears these 2 are usually pretty hard to get removed. So I'll keep sending them letters each month. As far as the paid late car payments, I have also sent them a GW (Capital One). I spoke with them yesterday and they are going to look into it. He stated they don't normally do it but would try anyway.

Hah thanks James. I guess the idea is they get sick of hearing from you and just remove it? ![]()

The idea is your letter lands on different desks which greatly improves your chance for success.
That certainly makes sense. Thanks for the tip, I will start doing this until successfull.

+1. Best way to blast as many people as possible and hopefully get a bite. As lates get older, their impact decreases over time. I believe a 30+ day late impacts for about 2ish years. 60+/90+/120+ impact for much longer. The 30 day lates, if even a few can get removed, that would definitely give you a bump. But since it's 18 months old, their impacts are relatively minimal now. Once you reach 24 months, you should see an easy 10-20 point bump with the aging. I would definitely try and see about that 120+ day late as that is definitely going to impact you for the full 7 years.
Hello thanks for the update. I have also tried for GW on the 120+ day late Student loan. However, since this is a government loan they tell me they cannot legally remove these. The last 120 late on this loan is from Feb of 2015.
