The CL process at AMEX honestly baffles me. I did have an AMEX years ago, but had to give it up after a job loss and bankruptcy. Despite that, when I applied for Blue Cash Everyday, I was given an $8k CL out of the gate. This is strange considering most Visa and MC issuers are wanting to give me <$1000 CLs.

I used the RSVP code on the mailer and was approved right away online. However...I was rather disappointed that they only gave me a $1k SL. Especially considering Chase just gave me a $9.7k SL a few weeks ago. I think I was actually offended by AMEX for that 😂. My hubs thinks it's cuz I have had no accounts with them but I think it's cuz I have so many inquiries and recent credit lines opened. Either way...I've joined the AMEX family. And we're road trip junkies so let's see what we can do with all those HH points. 😁
i would try to shift your spending (that you can afford to PIF) on the card for the next 61 days and then ask for that 3x CLI on the 62nd day. i think you are correct about the new accounts/inquiries as the reasons for your lower starting. i only had 2 new accounts and 2 inquiries (12 months) when i hit up Amex for my 1st (sort of, my previous card was closed over 10 years ago) card with them. they started me off at 5k and gave me my CLI to 15k recently. congrats!
