First Amex Revolver!!!!

It's been white knuckles the past 48 hours. I applied for the Amex SPG and the Delta Skymiles Card on Thursday. I got the dreaded 7-10 day message on both. I assumed a decline as I have been going for the BCP for the last 3 months and kept getting declined. Yesterday I did get declined on the Delta but today when I logged in I was approved for the SPG. So thankful to be back in with Amex and finally have a revolver with them.

Re: First Amex Revolver!!!!

I think I'll hold off on the recon. Just called in to get my CL and it's only 1K. I was definitely a border line approval as I have applied for several cards over the las 6 months. I'll take it though as I didn't want to app for anything in 2013. I'll definitely go for the 3x CLI in 61 days.

Re: First Amex Revolver!!!!

Strange. It should be other way around (you got approved with Delta and got denied for SPG). Delta and Hilton are easier to get than other AMEX revolvers.

Re: First Amex Revolver!!!!

Trumpet, that's exactly why I applied for the SPG and Delta. I heard they were the 2 easiest and I kept getting shot down for the BCP. I applied for the SPG first and then the Delta.

That's how I got my BCE. I apped Hilton AMEX and PCed into BCE as soon as I got the card. Back then I had Zync (now closed) and I couldn't get BCE when I had 1 year of positive history with AMEX.

Re: First Amex Revolver!!!!

I just got approved for the Zunc and the Gold back in July so I am happy to get a revolver in less than 6 months. I'll push everything through the SPG now and pay in full. Hopefully that will get me the 3X CLI.

Re: First Amex Revolver!!!!

well Delta Skymiles can be PC'd into BCP/BCE so that works, easier to get in with Skymiles and get more bonus this way, since 30,000 miles= $300 instead of the $150 bonus for BCP.

but gotta warn you Delta Skymiles is definately the worst card in the Amex line up, can't redeem miles for anything anytime. Was trying to set an appointment for the advertised miles required for travel, and couldn't find anything even with 331 days booking in advance. You end up spending 2-3 points extra per every travel just to secure something. So yea get a Delta Skymiles collect the rewards and switch.

and yea I'm scratching my head how you got approved for SPG and not Delta.

Re: First Amex Revolver!!!!

Nothing 'easy' about SPG. Not only is the flagship AMEX revolver, you can do just about anything with the points. And they yield the BEST conversion rate of any other points based card. Take the SPG and be proud. I would recon b/c if you don't get it nothing else worse will occur. Won't be another pull. If you can't recon you certainly will be able to apply again for some other AMEX product in the very near future. You's scores look great!
