First Approval after CH7 BK!

Hi all! I haven't posted in a few months, but last time I was on here my BK had just been discharged (1/2/18), my scores were in the mid 400s and my credit reports were atrocious lol. All of my tradelines have finally updated to IIB status and my scores are 572 TU, 575 EX and 602 EQ. I applied for a Discover It Secured this morning and was APPROVED!!! Now to begin the BK to 700 plan. Can't wait to begin this journey much wiser this time, I'm so excited!!!

Re: First Approval after CH7 BK!

Congrats!!

Our Ch-7 BK was discharged in early April and I applied for a Discover It Secured last Friday and was approved.  The deposit withdrawal was taken yesterday morning and late last night I received an email from Discover that has the last 4 of my account number on it.  This is my first credit card post BK and I plan on being very careful with credit from now on.  I plan on depositing up to the max $2500 this summer in hopes that once it goes unsecured I can get an even higher CL.  This will be the card we use to put all of our monthly bills onto that are recurring and we will just pay it in full each month.

I am hoping one day to get approval for the Barclay's Carnival card as we like taking cruises.  Unfortunately we burned Barclay during our BK so it will be a bit before I know they will consider it.  In all honesty I only want max 3-4 credit cards once all is said and done.  No more floating balances every month.

Re: First Approval after CH7 BK!

Sounds exactly like my plan! I love the cash back rewards this card offers and I plan to increase the limit as much as possible before eight months is up. I'd hate to be stuck with a $200 card 😒

Good luck with Barclays! Luckily I never had any cards with them, I was always afraid to apply because of the CLD horror stories reported. But since they issue Carnival, I'm going to give it a shot before 2019 (planning a New Year's cruise with the hubby!)

Re: First Approval after CH7 BK!

I received my Discover It Secured yesterday.  Did yours say chrome?  It shows 2% cash back for gas and restaurants and 1% every day.  Is that the deal they have?  Man does this card look nice!!

We just transferred all of our recurring monthly bills to it like our streaming services and cloud storage and will pay it off in full each month.
