Discover? Pre-approved? Wow that's great!
Are you sure it says pre-approved and not pre-selected or some other sort of gibberish?
If it says PRE-APPROVED I would suggest apping for it.
I suggested the Walmart card because it is actually a GE card. GE is by far and away the most generous lender and grantor of CLIs. Many people start with a CL of $500 and by the end of 1 year have been CLIed to $3000. They are known to approve CLI requests every 3 to 4 months like clockwork. You do however need to use the card to get CLIs. That's why I asked if you shopped at Walmart.
Your Amazon card is a GE card! So you do have a GE card!
Discover is considered a PRIME bank by most people on these forums. It would be awesome if you received one this early in your rebuilding process. It would speed the way for approvals for other prime banks in the future.
I would suggest apping for it and here is why:
1. If you get denied, so what, you were going to stop apping anyway.
2. It sure would be nice to be able to garden for the next 6 months to a year with a prime bank card in your wallet.
3. You could get all these HPs out of the way for a year. They only affect your score for a year.
Let us know what you decide.
How do you feel about it?

this makes me sad =\ you know people have been successful getting ridiculous credit limit increases or product changing their capital one card to a much better card as well. It would make it worthwhile to keep even if you do not use it just for the age alone would increase your score. troi oi!

Good point distantarray. I totally forgot about the Chase Visa version. I do beleive the OP only has a store card though.
agreed hehe, but GECRB is amazing for CLI but mainly because their CLI are not as risky as Visa mastercard discover or amex options, less places to spend = harder to spend =) helps utility a lot.

AAAHHHH seriously??? I threw away the Discover letter! It definitely said "pre-approved" on the front of the envelope. It was something about 5% cash back? Orange flyer of some sort? I knew I should have kept it! Maybe if I go to the website I'll see something. Is there a pre-approve section on there like on Cap1 website?
I guess I could go ahead and try to apply either way. I will be so nervous though lol.
I think my TU score is actually better now than my EQ is. I know my EQ has more inq's than my TU. Does discover only pull EQ?
So my Amazon card is NOT GE??? I thought it was??
I can appply for the walmart card...I don't really shop there but if it gives me a free TU report every month, that would be awesome. I would just be worried about not using it every month(does that matter?)
So far I charged around 125$ on my Amazon...should I wait until the end of the statement and pay it off and THEN apply for the Discover? Or is it better to just apply now?
Great now I'm confused again ....lol
no visa logo = gecrb

If your amazon doesn't say "visa" on the front it is a GECRB card, if it does say "Visa" it is a Chase card.
check out the pre-qualifier on discovers website, it might pop you something back.

If the only cards you have are FP and (now) cap1, they won't do AA on you for inqs. They're the least likely of all lenders to do that, so if there is another account you want I would just shoot for it now and hit the garden. Might as well try that discover letter

Also, I wouldn't app walmart if you don't shop there, the TU score is great and I love it (I sit here waiting for the score thread every month so I know my score is up) but if you aren't gonna use the card there isn't any point in apping for it.
bahaha...um yes....that is exactly what I will be doing. I think I will apply. Atleast it'll save me from spending a ton of money on groceries at publix...lol
