First Post/First Spree (UPDATE!!!)

My spree didn't initially start as a spree. Last week I decided to apply for hilton amex while booking a hotel and to my surprise I was approved. SL 1k

Last year I purchased a home so I had a lot of inquiries from mortgage shopping and opened 3 new credit cards after closing. Exxon SL 200 have since received a small increase without requesting to 250. Discover it SL 500 since increased to 1500 without requesting. And star card SL 5650 (which I had in the past and went to collections with a smaller limit so I was shocked)

In December I received a preapproval for NFCU, I applied and was denied. So I figured I'd head to the garden until my inquiries faded and accounts aged until I applied for the Hilton Amex.

Well yesterday I figured hmm, might as well see what else I can get.

Approvals

Hilton Honors Amex SL 1000 pulled Ex & Tr

USAA signature visa SL 5000/ pulled Ex

NFCU visa signature cash rewards SL 7100 pull Tr

PenFed platinum SL 15k pulled Eq

PendFed power cash: pending/no 2nd pull

US bank visa platinum: DECLINED/pulled Ex

Funny backstory about PenFed when I went to apply for membership it said I already had one. I called them and come to find out I opened my account back in 2015 and I guess I forgot about it lol. Needless to say it still has the same balance this entire time.

Aside from what I consider to be a lot of inquiries, and 1 late payment to capital one December 2015 I have no other baddies. I cleaned up my credit as much as I could prior to applying for a mortgage.

Other cards I have are 2 capital one quick silver cards. 1000 limit and 2050 and an Ulta store card which was just increased to 700 without requesting. I am an authorized user on my dad's chase with a limit of 13300 for credit history length (been open since 1999) but I just informed him to take me off. I want to stand on my own now that I've gotten my mortgage!

Experian 686 (was 693 prior to the new inquiries)

Transunion 703 (no change even with new inquiries)

Equifax 719 (724 prior to penfed HP pull)

Also my equifax score was 571 almost exactly a year ago today so gardening does wonders and now I'm heading back until June 2023!!!!

UPDATE: I figured I may as well try for everything I can get now since I'll be gardening for so long.

NEW APPROVALS:

Synchrony SL 3000

Citi AAdvantage SL 7700

Amex Everyday no specified limit

NEW DENIALS

BOA travel (was going for the 0% foreign transaction fee)

PenFed power cash

Total spree: 10 cards (7 approved for a total of $38,800 + whatever the amex everyday is)

Re: First Post/First Spree (mostly successful)

Congratulations on all those new cards!  I too am enjoying some nice new card smell that I didn't really plan on 😁.  Its wild how much the starting limit can vary between issuers even when you apply in the same day.  With a little bit of luck, hopefully you get approved for that second PenFed card!

Congrats for your approval. What reason did US Bank gave for decline?

I went on a mini spree today and ALSO got $1000 on an AmEx (Cash Magnet) and declined by US Bank! Similar scores. They're just grouchy this month...

Big wins with FNBO ($5k, auto approved) and B of A ($10.5k) though! If you're still itching, please try those!
