I had to call into my bank, First Tech Federal CU today for an NSF they courtesy removed (a screwup where the wrong account was ACH debited for $10 as a trial transaction).
The rep offered me a credit card. Smart rep.
When we last left, our hero was told he couldn't get an unsecured First Tech card until 2021. Well, look, it's 2021. And I have some 1.5% or similar cards I'm pretty much never going to use except for packs of gum kinds of stuff. I can use the First Tech Choice Rewards card as a way to pad my overall balance (plus lightly fluffing some 3x AMEX revolver CLs) while I streamline card setup and garden for the rest of 2021. Oooh, look, one of the no annual fee cards has a 0% 12 months + $200 SUB offer going. It would give 2% on my cell phone bill, matching my 2% straight CB cards, so I have a way to give it regular action every month.
Sure, let's apply.
DP: approved for the Choice Rewards World MC @ 35k with annual income 156k, 714 FICO. Just over 2 years out of Ch. 13, something like 8 card approvals the past 12 months, 20+ year customer with FirstTech including two used car loans, primary checking account, past secured card I dumped once I got unsecured cards. Card has 12 months no interest, 90 day balance transfer promo to go along with a $200 SUB. 13% interest after that expires (not amazing but beats all my other CCs by a bunch because, still coming out of CH. 13 with OK but not 800+ scores + two years of app-a-palooza), 14% interest if taken as cash advance (not part of the promo). No balance transfer or cash advance fees.
Very nice SL. Congratulations on the approval, 90 days for BT and 12 months of 0%...👍👏👏👏
It must have been one heck of a call for you, surprised with opportunity to app for a CC!
Congrats on that fantastic approval!!! The 20 years of business and previous loans certainly outweighed the 2 year old BK13. Enjoy!!!

I was thinking the same thing @blindambition !
That's terrific! Congratulations on your approval!! 🎉🥂
Very Nice!! Congrats on the approval and SL!
Outstanding! The (for them) better weighted factors of long term history definitely paid off for you.
Congratulations!
Congrats on the strong approval!

It's just over 2 years since discharge (as paid with terms), so over 7 years since filing, which is a magic number since Ch13 drops off at 7 years after filing (unlike Ch 7 which is 10). My record is clean, though my oldest card pre-BK has dropped off (I have an OpenSky card I closed that will be good for a while, and then it'll all be post-BK cards, so now I am pruning and tweaking).
Some of the companies IIB don't like me so much yet and want nothing to do with me (BofA, Citi), some do not have hard feelings and I'm already a returned customer (AMEX). Since I'm a miles and points stalker more than cashback (I use both but it's probably 2/3rds miles and points, 1/3rd cashabck) not having access to Citi TY/BofA for some airline/hotel cards stings but AMEX is fine for that.
