Applied for the Freedom today, got the 10 day message. Have an existing Slate card open for 16 months with a zero balance... what to do? Wait or call RECON?

Yes, call them right now and it could be as simple as them verifying your info!
Yes! I would also call them now!
Starting Score: 648Ok, I called, was system declined due to BK.
They took another look and Aprroved with a $500 CL. I have a $5000 limit on my Slate card that has a $0 balance. The rep I talked to would not consider a higher line. Stated need to use the card for 30 days and request an increase through customer service. Would not even discuss transfering the line from the Slate card.
I really have no use for a $500 limit, what to do at this point?

Well, you took a HP to apply for the card so i would suggest making the use out of it. I'm sure you were hoping another $5k+ when you applied, but i don't think you should be so discouraged by the initial limit...you had a BK in your file! Chase probably didn't want to risk another card based on your BK, but you were given a second chance w/ $500. I would definitely use it wisely and let it grow as it is a great card.
::edited for typo::
I'm cool with the $5500 total, I would just like to move the allocation around. Like 4000 on the Freedom and $1500 on the Slate would be good.

Use the card as already suggested, you can make multi payments, the limit is really immaterial.. Grats on the approval ![]()

Id call and move the entire slate line over to freedom and close it... if you have no balance on it it's a dead card anyway... you get slate for BT and then it's done once you pay that off.... my partner did this last year... they are offering him slate again now... but he took the CSP offer this morning instead!

Well, it's something. How old is your BK?
I wanted to clarify that I am not disappointed with the approval. I was a confused as to why the recon analyst would not let me transfer my line and close the Slate card. I got my answer after I called in to customer service. They transferred me to the consolodation department and they where able to combine the limits.
So for the cost of a HP I got a new Freedom card (eligible for the $100 bonus offer) and a $500 CLI. Not to shabby. I am happy to have a Chase card I can use now that the special rate on the Slate is over.
My BK is 5 years old and Chase was included in the orginal BK, so I am in no means disappointed in any approval they give me!
