Further confirmation on how weird Discover is with CLIs

Had the IT card for over 2 years now.  I have 720+ on all bureaus.  Have requested a CLI every month or so since the card opened (SL of $6.5k), and have NEVER had a CLI approved, plus have NEVER received an auto CLI from them.  Just last week, I requested another CLI, and yet again was denied.  Then, all of a sudden, today I received an email that they auto approved me for a $1.5k increase (up to total CL of $8k).  I read on the boards that you should immediately request another CLI, so I did so—and BOOM, instantly received ANOTHER $1.7k (up to total CL of $9.7k)!

 

I haven't found any hard rules on how often they'll approve CLI requests, or how long you must wait between requests (whether denied or approved), but I plan to ask for another CLI shortly, like just a couple weeks, and see if I can keep this gravy train rolling!

Congrats on the DD boost. From the multiple huge Disco threads I’ve read, there is zero rhyme or reason to their CLI approvals. Someone had said that trying every 30 days seems to work and was reasonable but that trying every 60 days may net you one increase that’s larger than the sum of two 30 day CLIs if you’d gone that way. As in, get $1k this month, apply again in 30 days and get another $1k, or wait 60 days and instead of getting $2k you may get $3-4k. YMMV as they have proven to be schizophrenic in this stuff but it may pay to try a couple strategies over the next year to see what pattern is better supported by your profile.

Thanks y'all!  Just figured it'd be useful to confirm that, following an auto-CLI, the immediate follow-up CLI (even if you've recently been denied one) is for whatever reason successful.  Wouldn't have known or even thought to do that without reading the advice of these boards, so just paying it forward!

I got 2 increases today. One for $300 and the other for $500. I got an auto increase for $500 a few months ago. The train is rolling slowly
