Started rebuilding my credit in Dec. 2015, scores were in the 530's-550's. Got a charge off taken off of Experian which took my score to 677, scores with TU and Equifax are in the high 570's to 587. Just got approved for a Kohl's account with $300 limit and was approved for a secured Bank of America secured card with $99 deposit with a $500 limit. I can't believe that I am FINALLY getting approved for something even if the limit is low!! Also just got approved for Victoria's secret $500 limit. I have applied for a few other cards which I am waiting on replies for. I'm going to try my very hardest and garden for the next 12 months!
Congrats!
Try Amex preQ's.... I don't know how your report looks. But your Exp score was around mine. When I was just approved.
Congrats!
Congrats! Nice score bump.
You might want to garden for a bit, especially since you have other apps pending. It looks like 3 current cards, right? I know it is hard once it seems the approval train is rolling, but you don't want to end up in toy card hell with a ton of inquiries. I started rebuilding with a Cap1 secured about 18 months ago and when you're not thinking about it, the time really does fly.
What else did you apply for? What's keeping your scores down on TU and EQ?
Do you have loans on your reports (student/auto/etc)? Those can help diversify which is reportedly beneficial in scoring.
If you can build a history with those small limit cards, 6-12 months, you should be in a good position to go after a higher limit/lower APR offering somewhere, but you'll want TU and EQ to get more in line with your EX score.
Amex and Chase have pretty reliable prequal sites, but Chase pulled TU and EX for me.
I have a charged off auto loan from Aug 2015 that are keeping my scores down on the other 2 reports. It was deleted from Experian after I disputed based on a 1099 form that I was sent and they still were reporting as past due. I am still waiting on dispute results from EQ and TU. I applied for Amex, Overstock, and Chase Disney. I was declined for Amex and got a "further review needed" on the other 2. I will be laying off of the app's for sure. It can be addictive once you start getting approved, but I know that it is not good for me to get too app happy!. My main concentration now is building up my savings and just letting my reports age for the next 12-18 months, paying everything on time and keeping utilization at 10% or less.
I hope TU and EQ get on board with the update.
Will the update bring a complete removal of the CO leaving you with clean credit reports?
If so, I think next summer you'll be in a good position for some prime card fun.
Keep working at clearing those negatives. Don't apply for too much. I would wait on Am Ex. A 700+ score would yield better result.
Yes, if TU and Equifax remove the charge off, I will have a totally clean report.
Congrats on the approvals !
