It's been over 2 years in my quest for a PenFed Platinum Rewards card. I tried applying around mid-2020 and hoping for a $10k SL (and at least $5k minimum), and they approved me for Power Cash instead with a $3500 SL at that time. https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Applications/PenFed-Platinum-Rewards-Application-With-A...
I was quite disappointed. I held off on applying again or for a CLI because I didn't know if I would be back in the office or not due to the whole COVID thing. I would have gotten a car loan if I went back to the office. Eventually, I got permanent work-from-home but was still holding off on applying due to possible job changes.
Around mid-2022, I was going to try and get the Platinum Rewards again, but the local credit union that I switched to had to pull my credit for a new member application even though no credit was involved. So here we are 6+ months later for the inquiry to have less of an impact. Tried asking about a product change first, but no dice as expected with PenFed in recent years.
...I got approved for $10k!!!!! ...Finally. Now my credit life is complete. The last credit card I want in my stack is in my wallet ...Or at least it will be once the card navigates "supply chain issues" and the mailing system.
I'm still waiting for them to say it's a mistake and yank away my dreamed-for card.
Never got a quarterly offer from PenFed by the way or an auto-CLI.

I'm planning to close out the PCR once I clear out the rewards. I know all the arguments against closing cards, but it won't affect my utilization, and I only wanted 4 cards, 1 from each payment network. Don't want to manage, maintain spending, or have fraud issues with sock-drawered cards. I'll try to get PenFed to combine cards or move the limit to the Platinum Rewards, but I have low expections given PenFed's recent history.
