Hi MBSS, Since your recon was successful I've moved this to Approvals-MarineVietVet, myFICO moderator.
I like to push my luck a bit and they would not stop with the prequalifying ad for BofA when I was logging in for my checking acct. "15,000 bonus points when you apply for the B of A travel blah blah card. You're prequalified!" So I pulled the trigger and got the 30 day message. So they're going to see a bunch of recent inquries and new credit lines. What do I say to recon to get approved? Do I mention I'd be willing to take 500 from my BofA Cash card and move it to the Travel card? I have banked with them for 20 years, that should be worth something. Do you still get the bonus if you get the card haggling with recon? I don't intend to waste a hard pull.
Bonus story* Hanging out with my friend today and she mentions her credit is in the 800's after having me explain to her why I keep looking at this website. She's been using the same Citi card since college for over a decade and she gets her points and is happy enough with that. She's owned a home and paid off a car or two so she built her credit that way. I tell her she might as well score some bonus points and take a short term ding to get a card or two since she's not planning to buy a home for another year or so. She's like "Sure, whatever. You can apply for me." So I go to Chase and apply for the Freedom and she gets $18,000 at 13.99% lol. That was entertaining for me.
Hey dude. What you can say is to just ask them if you can verify any information on your application. That's always a good start and actually worked for me when I reconned my Citi Double Cash. Other than that, I'm pretty sure everyone else is going to say be completely honest about your situation and I wouldn't an exception. I wouldn't say that I'm willing to move limits off the bat, but if they don't budge, I would definitely bring up the willingness to move things around. Best of luck and congrats to your friend. Wish my Freedom card had that limit.

Nice.
When you call make sure you mention acouple of times, at least, that you've banked with them for 20 years. It couldn't hurt, surely.
Thank you everyone on this site for great assistance and to the guys that replied to me and to ~corymcdd88 for the Sr. Analyst phone number.
Spoke to Diane and told her where I work (Insurance) and that I got the Cash card and I really want the Travel card.
That was all it took. She said "Ok, well you have a $1,500 line for the other card so let's give you $2,000 for the Travel card."
I said "Thank you for your good service and have a merry x-mas."
Stoked. I would have hated to waste a hard pull.
