How these forums helped me.

Hey everyone! It's been a long time since I have posted. A lot has happened and I am due to update everyone. My memory is a bit faded so my prior numbers may be off but the point should come across and hopefully encourage new comers.

Back in 2011 I recognized I had some major credit issues. From items that were in collection, past due cards and balances - I was in a very unstable and unhealthy situation. All post just graduating college. I was negligent, dumb and in need for credit education. Welcome to myFico forums.

What started my journey with a credit of low 500's and lots of junk on the report turns into a happy ending. From removing collections with the help of our members and getting creditors to agree to drop reports, I was able to change my score to the mid 600's. I was consistent and patient as recommended.

I hit a milestone in 2013 I was approved for my own chase United. That was a mltivation boost! My work was starting to pay off. I was never late and very mindful of my usage to limit ratio.

In 2014 my scores began shaping into the low 700's, a solid foundation and little fluctuation. The only hard inquiries were from a car purchase and damn cell phone providers. Garden club was responsible for my being careful. I decided to take a risk and apply for a CSP, AMEX BCP, beaver card and change my existing BoA into a non secured with large limit.

I was approved with a $5k on CSP, 7k BCP, $10k beaver, and BoA non secured $10k limit. Success! I was so happy. My old cards, Amazon store was bumped to $10k, Amazon chase $1k to $2.5k, and United to $5k. I was doing well.

One year I sat patiently and gardened. I recently went to get my own financing on a lease car. I was instantly approved with flying colors. My score reflected a solid 773. I had reached a point I never thought would happen. I decided to improved some lines of credit. As of today I was able to:

CSP from $5k to $12.5k
AMEX BCP from $7k to $21k
BoA - $10k to $20k
Amazon - closed (not using and didn't effect AAoA)
United - $7.5k ( moved Amazon line)
Beaver - $15k
Lending Club - $14k (now paid to 8k)

I am right now going to be considering consolidating some lines and decrease quantity of accounts.

I have never thought this would be possible or happening. It looked grim, dark and dreadful. It was this community that changed my life (not dramatic at all) for the better.

Thank you for the great community, contribution and team work. Any newcomers, face the problem head on and work towards it. It may be a long battle but as a person, you will see the benefit.

Thanks MYFICO!

Re: How these forums helped me.

Congrats tehpud!!! I am a new member too and just started posting on these forums. I had mid 500 scores like you and started to rebuild my credit 18 months ago. Through patience, I was just recently able to fufill my dreams and got accepted by 5  prime credit cards that I always wanted to have a relationship with just last month. It feels good after the hard work you put into getting your credit back up. Doing some gardening for the time being, I hope to have scores and CLs like yours in a year's time. I love the info these members on these forums bring. It has helped me greatly. Once again, congrats!!!

Yes, though it can be hard at times, patience and gardening has it's perks in the credit realm.

Thank you all!  Yes, it has been quite the journey.  I was hoping to post my story and help others either get inspired, not give up, or just share how great this community is.  Thanks again for all the great remarks and positive feedback!  I hope to read more stories like this and better!
