First time AMEX user! Strange story though... last night I apped for the PRG (50k pt bonus offer) and after a couple minutes of spinning wheel I got a response saying their system was down. My app showed as "In Progress" on their app status page.

About 45 mins later I said what the hell and went for the Hilton HHonors no-AF card, figuring it'd all hopefully be under one HP. Spinning wheel and... 7-10 day message. Both apps now said "In Progress". I went to bed.

Called in this morning and a friendly rep told me both apps were on hold for fraud reasons because they'd been submitted "at the same time"! He had me specify which card I wanted and said he'd submit for it, I told him PRG and I asked if A) I'd still get the 50k bonus and B) if this would be the same HP as before. Yes to bonus but he didn't have a clear answer on the HP. I made like Nike and said to myself, JUST DO IT!!

GOT THE PRG! He wanted to know if 7-10 day shipping was fine, I asked if there was anything faster and he said he'd expedite the shipping and it should get to me quickly! We were about to get off the phone when I was feeling lucky and decided to ask if I could try for the HHONORS card as well.

APPROVED! 2k limit but he said it was no big deal and I could "ask for an increase in 60 days"! He expedited that card as well and it'll come Monday or Tuesday. What an exciting way to start with American Express!!

Good work.  It looks like they've pulled back on automatically sending out 2-day courier on the PRG.  'Purty' packaging though... :-)  Congrats!
