Two problems with lowes, one im almost in disbelief in. Grandma just bought a new house and it needs some work (roof, windows, and hvac) so I assisted her on the computer to apply for a lowes card. When she got her mortgage her scores were all 800+. She makes a tax return varifiable (incase ge wants proof) 175k a year between her two pensions and investment income. But was given a 7-10 day message, called in with her and htey told her we needed to wait for a letter to come in with a final decision and then call back. I thought she would be a shoe in for an easy 5 figure starting limit. Her mortgage is not reporting btw. Her profile includes a chase freedom at 7500 with nothing on it, a us air card with a 15k limit with nothing on it , a chase southwest with a 30k limit, but she has about 20k on that right now so that may hurt (various new things for the hosue), and a USAA with a 19,500 with nothing on it. Maybe she should have waited until the chase southwest reported at 0 as she knew she was going to make those purchases and had the money, but she wanted the free flights the points would generate, so IDK.
With me I looked online and saw my credit line had dropped to 3000 avalible credit. 3 things changed on my profile, I took an HP for a new car loan, an HP from chase to up my southwest limit and get a freedom (im told by chase this was done on the same HP but im not sure to be honest), also took an HP to open discover it. So maybe they got a little scared at my new limits. ANybody have any reccommendation on what number to call, the number on the back of my card is useless for this. Also any idea on a number to help see if we can speed up grandmas decision? Thanks!
Edit- So sorry, can a mod move this to the credit card forums?! I posted in here by mistake. Thanks!
GE declines are declines... Go to Home Depot!
but number to credit is listed under backdoor numbers in helpful threads above "credit solutions"

If it is a decline there is nothing grandmother can do because they don't recon.
The Home Depot card is awesome - they give great credit limits as well. The only thing is they HP for CLIs. Literally shoot for the moon on this. With her income, there is no reason she shouldn't get a 20-30-40-50k limit. (I know that sounds insane, but I have only a portion of her income and my score are lower and I have a 20k line.)

+1. If you apply online and get approved for say $3k, set up online account and click cli button and ask for $40k (since she has $30k line already this isn't out of line) give it about hour or so and log back in and you will see new line (countered if not full amount!)

Totally agree. With her income, there really shouldn't be too much qualms about granting it.
To update this we called the back door number I found on this site (thanks!!), first to handle hers and they said she was approved for 600 dollars. We just laughed. Then said we need way more than that or we will cancel. They transferred her to a nice lady with a very thick accent and we asked for 25k, they counted with 22,700 (wierd number i know) and we took that happily. about 30 min later I called and asked about my lowes card and why it had been dropped to 3k avalible credit, and they said that I could apply for more but it would be an HP. So I guess im going to see if home depot will grant me a card as im not sure I want to take an HP for a maybe with lowes, when I could start fresh with home depot, I was really hoping to garden for a good two years, but Im a heavy shopper at home improvement stores since neither HD or lowes will give my company a card always declined saying "years in buisness not listed on bureau". We are working on fixing this, but theres no way around that even in recon. My transunion score is the strongest though and has the least inquries. Which is why I have a little more faith in lowes. Im not sure who citi pulls for home depot.

Lowe's should not be a HP for CLI. I don't know why they said that. Citi pulls TU for Home Depot CLIs which is what you'll probably have to do upon approval as I highly doubt they will give you the limit you desire at first.. upon approval you can log in and request a CLI online for a large amount 20-30k and I'm sure it will be approved. I would try to call credit solutions back on the Lowe's and ask them to raise your limit.
I think this will work out with 2 HPs from Citi or zero from Lowe's.. there shouldn't be one from GE -- I've never heard of a HP for CLI with Lowe's.. has anyone else?

She said it would have to be manually reviewed because of the credit limit decrease. IM not sure if thats whats different here. The thing with citi compared to lowes is citi askes for my mortgage amount, Lowes doesnt. so IDK.
