Macys Approved!!

I was approved for Macys store card yesterday wit $600SL. When can  I request a CLI and at some point can I covert to AMEX card?

Congrats! I think because account is so new not sure if theyll grant a cli even with a hp, which it most certainly will be. From my understanding, you cannot convert store card to Amex version, that must be applied for in store. Given some time, Macys can grow well. I started off with a $300 limit and am now at $5k. ( combination of hps and sps, last 2 were sp as perhaps my spend and pif history helped? )

I second what AverageJoe said.  I have both a store card and their Amex card.  The store card grew from $2,500 to $4,300 in one shot, but that was after some usage.  I applied for the Macy's Amex in the store when I was purchasing something and got a $2,000 CL.  I tried to call and recon to a higher amount and was told they would need to see some usage before they could grant me a CLI.  I plan on trying in another couple of months to see what they say.

I have a $600 SL too, got my card in October. Just asked for cli and was denied. No HP. When I checked last month the option wasn't even there. So I would say give it a few months at least.

I've done a lot of research on the card and it *seems* like its possible to get a cli without hp if they've recently sp you. So you could be on the lookout. It also seems as if they do actually give auto CLI and $600 to $1000 is a common step.

Congrats on your approval, I'd personally wait 6 months on a CLI after some usage. No you can no longer convert a store card to an Amex, it's a separate in store application. Also In the future, please try not to double post, it can confuse posters and prevent you from getting answers.

Congrats on the approval.  Was the approval in store or online?  I got my card 2 years ago; when I called in the activate the card, I was given a small CLI upon activation.  Not sure if they still do that now.  Since the change over, most times the increase is a HP.  I believe that you have to reapply in the store for the Amex version, but I'm if that infomation is not accurate others will chime in.  I started with a $300 limit, but my card is stuck at $8.9k as I'm twilling to get another HP for an increase.

Congratulations!  And +1,000 on the comments saying it will grow.  I, too, started at $600 CL in store back in 4/2015.  My current CL is $18K.  The CLIs to $16.5 from $15K, and $18K from 16.5K were both SP.

If you want to *try* to backdoor a CLI, call in and say you want to purchase furniture - at least that used to work when the furniture line was separate from the revolving store line.  They have a huge sale going on right now, and they're offering 24-month financing @ 0%.

Congrats!! I was unable to get a CLI.. closed the card @10 months of age because I could not get it to grow..
