I'm hoping to have your luck. My bk was discharged in May 2014. I did not burn Chase in bk, however, I did have a large charge off with them about 7 years ago. I do a decent amount of travel for work and the goverment rates at Marriott are always pretty good so I stay in them quite a bit. Hoping to add this card for that usage. Robot lady says "7-10 days" so it seems I may be having to do a recon after the latter arrives.
I applied a few days prior to the 3 year rule and was declined. When I tried to recon I was told they had a hard drop date of 3 years for recon and to call back for the recon after the 3 year mark. Called back in for the recon the rep asked questions about the bk and the $75,000 chase discharge. She said I did have sufficient rebuild history to recommend approval, got the same "but it takes a second person to agree" spiel. 7-10 days later I got a decline letter in the mail saying that my request to rereview the app was declined. Called back into recon, spoke with a manager and the manager reviewed everything and approve my app on the spot for $5,000. 4 months later they increased my credit line to $22,000 after I had spent over $35,000 on the card within the first 4 months.
It was funny because when I called in for the increase the rep asked how much, I said highest qualified, they agreed to match another card I had and said if I wanted more they would have to escalate to a senior underwriter, the whole conversation took less than 5 minutes and they didnt ask about the old cards with Chase or BK.
Jawshoeuh - I have read in many forums it it better to do a Chase recon before you receive the letter. I followed that advice and it proved to be good, maybe it would be a good idea for you as well. Good luck!
