I don't hold a Marriott card so I decided to bite the bullet a little early and start a new round of cards (getting hard to find a new card to get that I actually need). I applied for the Marriott Rewards Premier with a 70K offer I found online. No statement credit of $100 like other offers but I would rather have the points as the hotel charges are always billed back to my clients and I send them a copy of the statements.
Applied last Sunday and got the 7-10 day message, that's typical with Chase for me. I called recon (888-245-0625) after a few hours and they took a look and said it was still processing and that I needed to call verification department. That's a first. I was provided the phone number and a reference number. Closed on weekends so I called on Monday afternoon and after several very detailed questions about a couple of my other Chase cards and checking account they put me on hold. Came back and said I was approved and my limit was $5,000. Cool, I will take the card and points but that's really low. It's my lowest limit with Chase by far and my second lowest limit just above my US Air card at $2K (thanks Barclays I won't spend it in one place).
My question is should I call and recon this limit? The average of my other 4 chase credit cards is $13,700 and I have a Ink Bold. I have business and personal checking and savings and an investment account. Deposits well over 6 figures and all the other card see monthly usage. INQ not out of this world but I'm active in applying for cards every 90+ days. It was a single pull on EX.
I guess other option is to move some limits around but I was hoping not to have to do this until they would not approve a card unless I authorized a move or closure to get the new card. Might be getting close to my internal limit.
Any experiences to share? Thanks!
I think you may be approaching your internal limit with Chase. Also, to note any customer initiated requests for CLIs are usually HP (mostly EX)
congrats
