What’s up everyone decided to share a post as I have been a lurker for a while. Learned a lot from everyone’s experiences so I decided to share my experience of my rebuild, mini app spree and now garden life lol.
Started 12/2018:
Had mid 500 across 3 bureaus applied for Capital 1 Secured Platinum - $200 CL
03/2019: Decided to gamble and applied for Capital 1 Quicksilver One (unsecured) approved for $300 CL.
- Payed everything on time, disputed a few collections that were on my profile everything was 6-7 years old. Everything came off but 1 medical bill ($137)
- 05/2019
Scores low 600’s with only 2 inq across 3 bureaus applied for MGM Mlife card for (MGM casino card, helps get free parking at all casinos and small little perks) got approved for $2400 CL
- 07/2019 decided to add a Citi Diamond Secured card because reading on here I saw a few people graduate and click the CLI button and a few got up to 10k. $200 CL
- Payed everything on time, small charges here and there to keep them all active.
- Capital 1 Platinum (secured) graduated me to $500 CL around May 2019.
- Capital 1 QuickSilver One upped the CL to $500 in September 2019.
- 01/09/2020 Mini App Spree

Really wanted to get the Chase Sapphire Preferred but since I did not really have anything to spend $4,000 in 3 months for the SUB decided to get other cards, go in the garden for the next year or 2 and go after Amex Platinum & Chase Sapphire Reserve.
First app was Amex Hilton Honors Surpass ($95 AF) instant approval for $1000 CL
10 minutes later Second app was Discover It Chrome Instant approval $1000 CL ( applied to this one because of how fast your CL increases)
Pretty disappointed on the starting credit line thought they would both be higher but then again I have 0 history with either company so I’ll be happy with being approved and just grow them with time.
1 hour later I fired at the Apple Card. What a mission, I was denied because they could not identify me lol. Got on the phone with Goldman Sachs, they sent me over to Apple, Apple couldn’t figure it out so they sent me back to Goldman’s, they had no clue **bleep** was going on. I was like I sent you my DL my passport I can even FaceTime you if you want lol. So I lurked in some Mac forums and decided to check my Apple ID. Made sure my Apple ID had no mistakes, went to my Apple Cash card / Apple Pay in the wallet and clicked on the little 3 dots ••• went into options and it has a section to verify that as well, so I input all my correct information and reapplied. I was denied 3 times prior with no hit point. Went into verification and I actually forgot about it and fell asleep. Woke up like 4 hours later and had a notification in my Wallet App. Approved for $4000 CL.
Here’s who pulled what:
Amex Hilton Honors - Experian (instant)
Discover - Experian (instant)
Apple Card- TransUnion ( after you accept offer) took a few hours to hit
- also called Capital One and they said They could not upgrade any of my cards, so since they are my starter cards and Capital one can care less to upgrade them I’m going to close them out before the AF hits in 2 months. Citi Diamond graduates December 2020 but not sure if I’m going to keep that one either. Time to head into the garden and focus on getting my 2 goal cards in the next year or so: Amex Platinum / Chase Reserve
It’s very tempting to fire at one more card but honestly I’m happy with what I got. Don’t want to load up on cards that I’m not really going to use or have crappy incentives.
Hope this helps someone
Cheers
