Did 3 successful apps in the past week, I like to take the knocks for inquiries & new accounts in one dose. Amex Magnet $7800 SL, US Bank Cash+ $5k SL, and TCF Bank $4400 SL.
Amex Magent, $7800 SL. I have BCE and Everyday cards and tried to app for Magnet will logged into my Amex account. It was showing me "Pre-apporoved" but when I hit Apply I got the dreaded "No Welcome Offer for you!" message, meaning no SUB or 0% intro. I only have BCP from 2015 and Everyday from 2018, so that didn't seem right. So I called in, the rep offered to app for me and told me if she got that No Welcome Offer alert I could cancel. App went thru, instant approval with SUB & 0% intro!
US Bank seems to be more accommodating for CCs when you bank with them and I'm doing a bank account SUB with them so I app'd while logged into online banking. That pre-filled all info on the app except employer & income. And interesting, when approved US Bank comes back at you with an offer which you can accept or decline. I said yes.
TCF, Twin Cities Federal, based in Minneapolis/St. Paul. I did a bank SUB with them last fall, and right after they paid the SUB they sent me a notice they were selling all Arizona branches to a Alaska USA credit union so I called and said No Thanks, close my account. But last week they sent me a pre-approval mailer for an interesting Visa card: No rewards but a 5.99% APR on balance transfers made in the first 3 billing cycles, 5.99% fixed until the BT is paid in full. A $4400 CL won't give me too large a BT to play with as I won't go over 50% of CL, but the card is issued by First Bankcard division of First National Bank Omaha, so I got my foot in the door with them.
DPs: No HP on EX from Amex, EX Fico8 731, 7 inquiries. US Bank pulled TU, Fico8 731, 2 inquiries. TCF/First Bankcard pulled EX. And 1 inquiry each falls off TU. EQ & EX later this month, so back to even.
