Applied online today for the chase sapphire preferred. They pulled Experian and TransUnion. Got a instant denial with 7-10 day message. Called the reconsideration line and made my case with all the baddies on my report being very old and having other credit cards with no utilization (5k limit on one and a Amex charge card, and AU on another Amex with 23200 limit) and having on time car payments for the last 5 years combined with a 95K salary.
They unfortunately pulled TransUnion on the recon which shows I have 2 collection accounts nearing 7 years old and a charged off account from discover in 2015 for 4500. They score came in at 650 for TransUnion.
They asked why I wanted the card I told them I had made mistakes in the past but it was a long time ago and I wanted to build a relationship with a bank of reputation.
Was placed on hold several times and finally came back with a approval for $5000.
