I recently applied for a chase card and got the 5-7 day message. I called chase yesterday at the app recon number posted in the sticky thread on this forum and talked to a csr. The first thing she said was she noticed alot of inquires in the last couple months. I had applied for a discover escape, usaa visa cash reward and amex costco all within the last two months and been approved for all of them except the costoc true earnings card which struck me as funny as I get preapproval mails for the blue card from them all the time. Anyway I told her I had been shopping for a new reward card and it was only after I had applied for the others that I found out about the chase 5% special categorys. She asked if she could put me on hold for a couple minutes and then came back and said congratulations your approved your card is in the mail etc.
So to the poster who asked if Chase is inq sensitive Yes they are but if you call and have a reasonable answer to account for the inquires then it does not seem to be that big of an issue with them. If you dont call chances are you will get declined. Today I actually finally got my denial letter from them in the mail and it listed too many recent inquires on it so good thing I had called them the night before and talked to someone in person.

@jake619 wrote:FWIW, if you look at the Sapphire application source code there is a script that validates the income input fields - this is a snippet from the income section:
{ isremoveHousehold = true; //update the error message
if ( null != document.getElementById("errorsAnnualIncome.required")) document.getElementById("errorsAnnualIncome.required").innerHTML = "Gross Annual Income is required. Please enter.";
if ( null != document.getElementById("errorsAnnualIncome.invalidInput")) document.getElementById("errorsAnnualIncome.invalidInput").innerHTML = "Gross Annual Income must be numeric characters. Please reenter.";
if ( null != document.getElementById("errorsAnnualIncome.invalidIncome")) document.getElementById("errorsAnnualIncome.invalidIncome").innerHTML = "Gross Annual Income must be a minimum of $14,400.";
if ( null != document.getElementById("errorsAnnualIncome.invalidLength")) document.getElementById("errorsAnnualIncome.invalidLength").innerHTML = "Gross Annual Income must be less than 7 digits in length.";
if ( null != document.getElementById("sAnnualIncome")&& (document.getElementById("sAnnualIncome").title !="")) document.getElementById("sAnnualIncome").title = "Required Field. Enter Gross Annual Income in field and please do not use commas.";
Basically, Can't leave it blank, Must be numeric, Must be greater than $14,400, Must be less than $1 million and can't contain commas. The page is generic for all Chase apps and the app URL passes codes to tell the page which card app you clicked on. I didn't trace it out but there was bit of code that changes the wording from Gross Income to Gross Household income. I thought that was interesting. Maybe I'll look at it some more.
Nice catch Jake.
My reported income is a little over 17k... (college student) and I have two chase cards...
UPDATE: Just in case anyone wanted to know, the minimum income for Sapphire is at somewhere between $25,000 and $35,000. Apparently, Chase couldn't verify my date of birth which is why they denied me after I recon-ed (1st denial due to low income - first time around I entered $25K which I assumed they automatically threw me out?)
But yes, I was ultimately approved for $5K!

Congrats -- nice approval!
