Congratulations. You're in the door with two good institutions--Navy and Discover. Navy will grow quicker than you think, and Discover will unsecure with an opportunity to obtain a 2nd card after the one year anniversary of the 1st card.
Try to recon the SL of the Amex, sometimes the system kicks out low limits.
Congrats on card. I cannot wait to get establish with Navy Federal. Just opened checking/saving accounts two days ago.
Thanks for the kudos and support! The card showed up on the app this morning so now I'm more excited than disappointed. I might just ask for a higher sl off the bat and see if I get some wiggle room. I'll be depositing money into checking to allow for payments to post sooner as recommended. Thank you everyone!
Congrats on your approval!

Navy finally throws me a bone...albeit a small bone.
I applied for the More Rewards card about 10 days ago and was denied. Submitted message asking why and finally today they answered saying that after looking at the application a second time they could approve me for...$500. It's gonna make getting that bonus a little challenging.
I wasn't expecting an approval from that message and I definitely wasn't expecting such a low limit though, so I'm equal parts happy and disappointed. At least it'll allow for me to use my secured cards less (Discover and Navy, each at $500) and finally, after several years, have an unsecured limit.
If anything I'm glad I didn't apply for predatory cards or get a load of store cards. I did expect my second Navy card to have a larger limit, though. I'll apply for cli in three months and the secured card I have with them will hopefully graduate next month (6th statement).
Current cards:
Disco secured $500 (Hopefully graduates in February)
Navy secured $500 ($200 deposit)
Cap1 secured $200(Waiting for 6th statement to see if limit will increase or maybe just close)
Navy More Rewards $500
Current FICO8 average of 657 between three bureaus
Tu9 694
Paid off last charge off this past summer.
i would take your starting lineup over many that people have to start. Just know they will grow. My CR started at $500 and through requests/ auto/ combos is now a $25k card that helped me tremendously during this Pandemic. And im probably lowest income earner on myFico so if you make anything above that, , sky is limit for you
Congratulations on your approval. Things are looking up, you take care of that card and they will take care of you.
Congratulations on your NFCU More Rewards approval!
Congrats! I know what you mean about the washed feeling: happy and disappointed. Just know that NFCU rewards loyalty... so continue to PIF or make substantial payments towards your balance, and you'll get signficant CLIs or a second NFCU card in no time. There's plenty of success posts here in the forum with similar NFCU experiences in a year or shorter time frame.
