NFCU 2nd card approval even with high utilization

Hi 

thought it would be worth it to share that a few days ago I was approved for the NFCU more rewards Amex $14,200 SL 9.65%.  I have had their platinum card since 2012 $49,000 SL 6.9% with a current balance of $34,000. I used this card for a major home remodel since the interest rate is so low it was maxed out and I pay at least $1250 payment per month. This is the only credit card I have a balance on and I have about $120k in total limits across my few cards. I only applied for the new NFCU card to help with the DTI. Wasn't sure I would be approved with such a high balance on my other card. My scores are in my siggie.
