I applied to NFCU about a month ago (using the Navy League of SD membership) and finally got my welcome email this morning!! I already am in with PenFed (a restricted in) and was disheartened by being blocked from nearly everything because of my rebuilding numbers.
However, I decided to give NFCU a whirl this morning, seeing as I finally got in, and app'd for a Cash Rewards card and was instantly approved for 1.3K @ 16.9%!! This is my first unsecured card in over 10 years and I am OVER THE MOON (even if the IR is high)! 
My rebuilding is going so great and it's all finally beginning to pay off! YAY!!!!
