So last week June 8 I signed up for Navy FCU (via San Diego Navy League) and immediately applied and got instant approval on cash rewards for $1600. Yesterday I was feeling antsy and couldn't help myself but to push the love button, got a message saying it would be reviewed and a decision would be made within 24 hours, and shortly after I got an alert from credit karma of a hard pull on TU so I was kind of regretting the decision thinking it would be a denial and sadly a waste of a hard pull. This morning I login and see my CL is at $5000 now! Holy moly! Haven't received the card in the mail yet let alone activate it, but I received my debit card yesterday.
One question, does anyone know if I will be getting a Visa Signature card, does NCFU follow the 5k credit limit rule for that? Or can I request one now that my CL is $5k?
Initial approval last week

This morning

Congrats!!!! I got approved for the same amount they denied me the increase ill try later, U give me hope, Thats whats up.. Keep up the good work.
Yes, the system gets triggered to send out a Signature card as soon as the card is $5k limit or more... you probably will get a regular card first but just give it a minute and it will come as signature or else call after a month.

In light of a long discussion thread on NLUS-SD stop accepting new applications from out of state applicants and with potential NFCU membership hanging in the balance, I really wish that people, who have gotten in NFCU using this method, would be smarter and stay low for at least 30 days. It's not very prudent to do something out of ordinary, like requesting CLI before even getting the card! I just don't understand the mentality!!
Ok? Who are you to decide what people can or can't do? And what mentality? Applying for a credit card after joining a credit union or requesting a CLI increase after you're approved? Lots of people on this site do that with all sorts of different credit cards and different companies.
And right after my accounts were approved I contacted them asking if this was truly a legit way to join and that I would close cancel my membership if it wasn't and they sent me back this message
Thank you for using Navy Federal's eMessaging Service, Mr. ***. In 2010, USA Federal Credit Union was merged with Navy Federal at the request of the National Credit Union Administration. Those groups that were eligible for membership with USA Federal Credit Union were absorbed into Navy Federal's field of membership. The San Diego Council of the Navy League was included among those groups that were absorbed; therefore, members of the San Diego Council of the Navy League are eligible for membership with Navy Federal Credit Union. If you have further questions, please let us know.

I clearly missed something.
I also don't think flags are manual I think they are automated on a % of new accounts.
What do you mean by flags? Where they verify eligibility on new accounts?
I heard they verify every new account within 30-60 days after opening for eligibility so I'm waiting awhile before I move my direct deposit over and make NFCU my primary checking account.
CONGRATS.....I may apply in a month or TWO....My daughter just got 2 cards from NFCU as well and i told her to ask for an increase and she was approved as well....so again CONGRATS....!
