First time poster, long time lurker. Quick background: NFCU member since 2014, approved for NRewards Secured with $500 limit. Shortly thereafter, had some bumps in the road and card never graduated. Fast forward to Oct. 2019, begin to seriously focus on rebuilding my credit. Increased my limit on the secured card to $1000 in Oct. 2019 so that I could run more through the card with hopes of it graduating. In Jan. 2020, increased it again to $2500, but still no graduation.
Feeling confident from reading the forum and not feeling hopeful that my card would graduate, I decided to apply for the Cash Rewards card and to my surprise was approved with a SL of $5200. Yesterday was my 91/3 (technically my 104/4 because my first statement was not a full statement) so I decided to apply for a 2nd unsecured card (technically my 3rd NFCU card since I have the NRewards). Held my breath and after 30 seconds, BOOM APPROVED $20,000
After my approval I also applied for a CLI on my Cash Rewards and it went under review. Needless to say I will be calling to close my NRewards card. Hate to lose the history on that card, but will be happy to receive the $2500 back into my savings account. This forum has been a God send, so thanks to everyone for your advice.
