Re: NFCU More Rewards Approval

Thank you!

As for tips, that’s very dependent on overall profile.

I began my rebuild in Oct last year with an average F8 score of 515. At the time, I had zero cards and one installment (auto lease). I had 2 charge offs and 5 collections. First thing I did was read posts from here and Reddit for countless hours on how to best go about getting my score higher the faster. I then decided I needed a CC immediately and figured it was best to apply for a Synchrony Car Care card because it gave me an option to add a co-applicant (wife with better scores). Got approved. One of the charge offs was sold to one of the 5 agencies I had at the time, so I settled the charge off with a balance first because that was hurting the most. Once I settled that account, my FICO score went up 50 points across all 3 bureaus. Then I settled for less with all the collections and was fortunate enough that they all PTD. Once those were removed I was a little under 600 F8 around Nov-Dec. Then I applied for a Capital Card got approved. Continued to pay on time and maintain low reported utilization. Then got a Discover for $3,500 in Jan. Apple Card Feb $1,500 and that’s when I joined NFCU. Now I’m above 700 FICO’s as of last month. This is my last card for sure for until mortgage time next year but the biggest tip I can give I that you tackle any debts that are charged off with the original creditors if applicable. Negotiate a PTD with agencies if you have any. Pay on time obviously. Definitely definitely definitely be patient.

Re: NFCU More Rewards Approval

I'm going to follow your journey, you're the kind I get inspiration from. I started my rebuild on 2016, yes rebuild because my credit was pretty much destroyed and worse was that I had no clue about any of this, nor was I interested; I was dealing with heavy stuff in life. It took me about 4 yrs to see the light again at least on my scores/ profile. This forum has become a hobby, maybe a escape, feels good specially to come across good people like you who take the time to help others. Thank you so much.

CONGRATS!!!!

I cant wait until january. I opned checking and savings accounts in may but i have a bk 7 on my report that was disharged 12/2019, my dti is 4 percent and my total util is around 27 percent. my cores are mid 600's.

I decided to apply after i'm 2 years post bk 7 discharge date so the limit is not restricted to 1k and i want to pay my loans as low as i can at the same time letting my accounts with them age a bit.

Re: NFCU More Rewards Approval

Congrats on the NFCU approval and limit. I just got an invite to apply for the Cash rewards CCard but, I am a little weary since I have a BK 7 as of 2018. My scores are not that great. But I have been getting credit cards but sub prime cards etc. just to rebuild my credit. What are my chances of getting approved with this offer? I do not want another ding on my credit.
