Excited about it.    I asked for a recon on my starting credit line.   Fingers crossed!

Got an approval today for the Platinum.   It was hilarious.   I just became a member today AND I got approved for the card.   This is the funny part....I wanted to transfer over a $7000 balance on my Discover card.(I know..it's too high.  working on it).   I put the transfer in with the application and they gave me a $500 starting credit line!!!  They had to review my account...it was not an instant approval.   I prequalified and when they reviewed it..that's what i got.     BWAHHHHHHHH!   I'm about to call them and say....did you forget a 0?    You only gave me $500.   hahahhahahhah   so funny.    But I guess it will grow if they don't up it after a recon.    So funny.   I opened a Pen Fed last week and they gave me  a $5000 starting credit line.   I have as $15,000 CL on my Discover card.   This credit game is hilarious.

Sounds like me when I just applied for my second Discover. My first one (3550 -> 4550 a couple days ago) was sitting with history since Jan 2019. Here I thought they would meet to the same card and only gave me a $1,500 for the second card. BOA, PNC, & AOD denied; but half way in the mouth I tried Citi and was stunned with a 3,500 and the best card was DCU Plat confirming of an instant approval of 8,000!!!! Highest card right there.

The credit game is funny to see but you just got to deal with what they give. For Navy, you joining the same day with no history to them, could though them a loop. When I applied with DCU, my HP was already done Oct 2 for a loan but was surprised for the same amount on a Visa card. I joined DCU back in June 2020 and surprise they gave me 2 GIANT steps that I won't forget. All I did with DCU was having the highest status on the checking account and having $1k in the savings to get that.

I think if you gave Navy some time with you the card will go. Probably won't hurt throwing a % of a paycheck into an account there to be used as bill pay.

Good luck with your credit history, I know mine will be shot for a while when mine is a thin file with barely any experience.

Yeah...I agree with your assesment that I was new and tried to tansfer $7000 over.  lol     I may go for a new Discover Card next year.  I only have one.  I'm gonna garden for a while.  I've had a good little 2 day run.   These new cards at the Credit Unions will grow from what everyone tells me.    I really just wanted to join the credit unions.   I want to buy a car in a year or 2 and they have great rates.

Good luck with your history as well!

You're lucky that you have NFCU. I don't meet membership terms.

I did this as well and regretted it. I went from SL of 3K to 5600 after recon and that caused me to be in the 6 month CLI bracket rather than the 91/3 timeline. And I think my 91/3 timeline would have been much higher then the initial recon CLI.
