@HeavyResist wrote:Just got approved for my first NFCU card on my first try today. 18K on my first go and I have to admit i'm wondering if I should have tried for either the Flagship or the Amex. I used the pre-qualify tool first and all the cards were presented. However, I wanted to play it safe so I went what seemed like the low hanging fruit. Here were my circumstances on this approval so some of you can see the data points.
My Profile at time of HP:
First application with NFCU
TU8/TU9: 733/698 before the pull.
Baddies: Bankrupcy Ch7 August 2012 (falls off this year), no collections
Payment history: perfect for nearly 10 years on all accounts.
Total Available CL: $46.6K
CC Utllization: 30%
DTI: 17%
AAoA: 8 years 2 Months
AoYA: 8 months
Membership: I have technically been a member of NFCU since 1995. Had an old account from 1995 I reactivated last year. (Im going to write an article about the appeal process soon.)
Oddly enough, I considered waiting to apply for anything so I would be at 2/24 in November of this year when trying for a Chase card. This puts me right at 5/24 until October of this year when two cards come off. If any one has any advice on the next one to apply for and when, it would be appeciated.
Thats a great limit. Lol i wouldnt call the CR low hanging fruit haha cuz its pretty tasty in my mind
. Im more a fan of going for what YOU want more than whats expected , and oh yeah i get disappointed more times than not lol, so let your next card be the one you will use more or really want. Ok average advice over enjoy 😉
Congratulations! Nice limit!

The underwriting on the Cash and More Rewards seems to be the same, only the Flagship is a bit tougher. But they clearly like your profile, so you should able to get a new card or product change fairly easily when the time is ripe, if that's what you want. In the meantime, you have a solid card with a more than solid limit!
Congrats on the nice approval!
Im not quite sure if this is how an update is done. However, feel free to correct me if there is another way to post this information.
I was approved on 2/12/22 for my first NFCU card on my first try. I just got the letter (seen at bottom of post) showing my Internal Score from NFCU was 314 out of 450, and the remarks 18K Limitfrom the HP used to approve the line.
Looking at the factors stated in Key Factors section, here are the DP's:
Membership: I have technically been a member of NFCU since 1995. Had an old account from 1995 I reactivated last year.
Balance of Accounts: $680 Checking, $300 Savings - I was using this account specifically to store my sons monthly tuition payments for his school of $631, to segregate funds while showing some activity on the account
Insuffient Variety of Secured Loan Accounts: Im not sure if this meaning on my total credit report or if it means with NFCU specifically. My secured loans would be my Auto Loan and Mortgage.
Months since most recent inquiry: I had one inquiry the month prior to this approval.
Months since oldest auto trade opened: My current auto loan was opened in October 2020.
Here were my other circumstances on this approval so some of you can see the DP's as well.

Thank you for the DPs on your recent Navy approval! I have put in a request to have a mod merge this with your earlier thread.

Thanks. I wasn't exactly sure how to do that.
