Just approved for Navy Federal Platinum Card! I opened my NFCU account yesterday and deposited a total of $50 split between a checking and savings account. I used the prequalification tool on their website and was "prequalified" for all cards. Due to the advice and data points on here, I understood that I could not rely on the tool's accuracy so I was really hesitant to pull the trigger. But between last night and today I spent hours pouring over other posts and finally I realized I needed to just go ahead and try.
I was approved for $10,000 at 5.99%! Balance transfers at 0% for 12 months. My TU Fico8 is 677 and my TU Fico9 is 635. I had one hard inquiry from March 2020 on my report. My score is low due to a combination of high utilization on two current cards ( my overall utilization is about 27 %) and late payments with the last one being November 2020. I applied for the Platinum because I was contemplating a balance transfer. I want to pay off two of my high utilization cards. I went through some financial hardships a few years back due to a separation. But I feel that I am a much better financial space right now and am confident that I will never end up back where I was.
I am excited about my new financial relationship with Navy Federal and thanks to everyone on the forums for all of the great advice!
