I think I am going to like NFCU. Applied and instantly approved yesterday. New card delivered today! Under 24 hours until the card is on my doorstep!

Congrats on your approval! I usually feel like that when applying and seeing it's a low SL. But when I received the approval for my NFCU (1k) I didn't care if it was $200. As long as I get my foot in the door sonI could build a great relationship and by the time I'm ready to app for another card, they would hopefully show me some more love.

I've read that Navy is HP happy and I can attest to that. I had to apply for the Cash Rewards card twice due to complications with my membership and they HP TU twice within two weeks. I have seen many people say they HP for CLI but I haven't been able to experience that as of yet. I think your best bet is to use your Navy card as your go to card for the moment. PIF or keep UTI low and then I think you should apply for another card at 6 months for increased chances of a higher SL on the next card. Just make sure your UTI not high as well as a decent DTI ratio.

Yea I wont beat up the subject but I'm in the same boat on the other end of things... a mixed file...lucked out with 7,800 CR and at my 91/3 mark I apped for the Flagship and instantly approved for 25k. I was then declined for a CLI on the Cash Rewards. 

In general I think they are leaning towards 6 month CLI's and if you try at 3 months do it before you get approved for a new card. 

My wife with a mixed file as well and she was approved for 1k Cash rewards and we are approaching her 3 month...hopeing for a good second card and not even bothering with a cli until 6 months at least.

The exact same thing happened to me last night when I applied. My CL was only $1k. I was also surprised as this is my lowest CL. I wasn’t sure why, or if I should call NFCU to ask why it was so low.

After 91 days, they gave me a $15k limit Platinum and CLI'd the cashRewards to $1500 on one HP. Take care of your account and they'll take care of you
