Hey all,
If you have the time to look back at my previous posts from several years ago, I had a terrible medical issue (unexpected, when is it ever expected? That would be too easy.) and I used my credit cards to pay the debt like an idiot. Out of the tens of thousands of that debt, $3,000 of it was just me being a guy using credit. I consider myself to be very credit-responsible. I had one heck of a journey and I am on the other end. I had no interest in applying for anything, but I was reading another post about cards to get post-bk and saw that Capital One had a pre-qualify, so I said what the heck? Let's just start getting data points for this next rebuild.
To my surprise, the Quicksilver One with $39 AF showed up. I'd honestly rather the AF than a secured card so I don't have to tie up any capital. $39 is worth it. Went ahead with it....approved for $3,000. What in the world!?!
Some data points:
Discharge: 8/6/19
Income: Above $60k
Current FICO: TU: 611 (~690 FAKO's)
Zero debt
Capital One IIB for over $6,000. Two months before filing they were filing to sue me. Whaaaaaatttt...
If you have any other questions I will happily answer. Not sure what other data you all may want. I am shocked. I plan on using the card strictly to buy our groceries every week and pay it off when I get home. I have an AU card that holds a small balance to help with that.
Rest assured I now have very good health insurance and will not make the same mistake of using cards to prevent collections. Go figure, about 6 months after I paid off all the debt so it didn't hurt me in collections they state medical debt will no longer hurt your credit. That's just my luck.
The thud you just heard was my jaw hitting the floor
Congrats !
good luk on your rebuild ....... congrats
Congrats!!
That's amazing. I love my QuicksilverOne, no matter what some say on here. As a rebuilder, who started back low, in the low 520s with only low $300 limits to begin with on my other CapOne and a Green Dot secured card, receiving that QuicksilverOne with an unexpected $1,000 SL was fantastic and the 1.5 percent cash back. The $39 is a very small price to pay as a rebuilder with few decent options. I spend money on more frivolous things than that over the course of a year. So it doesn't bother me.
From reading on here, it seems CapOne loves a lot of usage on their card, paying in full, in order to receive nice CLIs. So keep that in mind. I've been following that, so I will soon see, in about a week, after hitting my credit steps if I receive more than the promised $500 CLI.
But congratulations! Your starting limit is really fantastic for just being nine days post BK. I'm envious.
Congrats on your Cap One QS1 approval! Good luck with you rebuild! ![]()
