I know how you feel. I was denied for the Nordstrom DEBIT card because I was "at high risk of fraud". Makes absolutely no sense.
So just when I was about to call, I checked my email and sure enough, the President of Nordstrom Credit Services emailed me:
Dear Mr.. Brown,
Blake Nordstrom forwarded your request to review your recent application for a Nordstrom Card, and I’m happy to help! If you could provide your billing address and phone number, I’ll be able to locate your online application.
I look forward to working with you,

Seems like a lot of work to say no.
I remember being on another site and people had to have the Nordstrom Siggie Visa. Not a place I shop but they swore it was one of the I've arrived cards, LOL!

They want to verify your identity. Your CR's has a FA and they had instances of multiples apps in your name- without these issues Nordstrom has always been a stickler on id verification.
I keep FA's on my CRA's all year long, and even with the FA if a company wanted to deny me they would not bother with ID verification. I agree that it seems like way too much work to deny me.
