One in, one out!

Opened BofA Premium Rewards card on 4/13/2025 (keeping with doing on every 3 years in the same date usually, lol). $95 fee, but that will be covered in airline incidentals alone (non-airline specific, which should hopefully cover P2's in-flight WiFi which AmEx never did). 28k approval, 20.49% APR (I think, or whatever the lowest was when I checked).

Honestly the card is not spectacular, even with my 75% Preferred Rewards boost. It will give slightly better returns for international dining that doesn't accept digital wallet, and slightly better for international online purchases (and only because the AOD is capped on monthly spend). After the SUB of 4k spend for $600 (which does make it worth it), it will be sock drawered until the tile to downgrade it in 1 year comes around.

However, this card is part of a new long-range plan to get a CCR with no FTF, based on experiences of others. If this works, I will convert other cards to the same for a year to see if I can get the no FTF to "stick".

The "out" is cancellation of my AmEx Platinum as of today. With the opening of the Sapphire lounge in Philly, finally, and P2 already holding the Ritz card, it doesn't make much financial sense anymore (the biggest actual use of the card has been for lounge access of the authorized user). Everything else was basically coupon book that I had to remember to use... in the case of Walmart+, I was actually offered 50% off a yearly subscription on my BCP anyways. Maybe in 5-7 years I'll go back in with a Green and see if the SUBs are open to me again, since they shut me out with the change to "family" of cards.

'Grats on the approval and nice SL! Good luck with your plan.
3 years? It's hard to go 3 months between apps. Smiley Surprised

Re: One in, one out!

I know you aren't asking for stories, but I'm inserting one anyway....

My "in" is a Bread card that is 2% cashback rewards card that is the first one to offer me a SUB ($200 cash back for $2,000 purchase, I think, I have to check that, may be $3,000?, but it isn't a problem) It will be my catch-all once I've met my purchase requirement, because 2% is better than 1.5% Cap One QuickSilver, even for a few dollars.

My "out" is me letting my Discover die a natural inactivity death.... because I truly hate those rotating categories. I'll be buying gasoline this month and then letting it go away. How long till it goes away? I don't know.

As for the QuickSilver? I'm not sure. I may upgrade it to a Savor. I don't know.

Haha no. Just 3 years between with BofA. I do try to stay consistent on the dates with each issue, however, unless there's a **bleep** good reason. I'm OCD like that. So my biz cards happen on 6/21, and my personal cards happen on 7/20 yearly (or every two or three years). I sometimes get a little app-happy in June in general though, and freak out about deals going away, so sometimes a few others get sprinkled in there.

And thanks, the SL surprised me! The only higher one I had was 35k with Affinity and for that I waited till the said I was pre-approved for that, and then they confirmed it.

Technically BofA is my longest issuer relationship, but I did cancel that starting card because it couldn't be changed to anything useful... my starting AmEx was only a year later, so I kept that.
