Oops, I apped again...

I closed my CSP, which became useless to me once I got the sign-up bonus and transferred the limit to my brand new Amazon.com Rewards Visa Signature. I still get the same measly 2% on restaurants but it also gives 2% at drugstores and office supply stores (read the fine print) as well as 3% at Amazon.com (including Amazon prime). I know you can get 5% with Sallie Mae at Amazon by buying gift cards, but I've been wanting this card for a while for some reason...

I got the black design and it is gorgeous.

I WANT this card, we buy our Groceries from Amazon Fresh and neither my partner nor I can get the Sallie Mae so this makes most sense but I was declined and partner won't get it Smiley Tongue

Re: Oops, I apped again...

Did they approve it even before closing your CSP and transferring limit?

Yes, they did. I called beforehand, though, and said I was concerned I might already have hit my internal limit with Chase but that I'd be willing to move the CL from the CSP to Amazon. They told me to app and then transfer the limit. I was instantly approved for $7K. My biggest concern was getting stuck with a Platinum Visa, but fortunately I got the Signature Visa.

Now I'm wondering why my Freedom kept the same first 4 digits (4266) after it was upgraded to Signature. Do you only get a card number that starts with 4147 if you get approved for a Signature card right off the bat?

I don't know what the first 4 digits has to do with anything or why it would matter.

Just me going off on a tangent. I'm just trying to figure out if Chase differentiates between cards that were upgraded to Signature as opposed to others that were Signature from the beginning.

If the purchase is coded as a book store. If it's something from Amazon Marketplace, you need a gift card (purchased with your Sallie Mae card), from what I understand.
