Posted on the other board also, not sure where it goes. Sorry
Last week I was approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred, told them I need the chip because I am going overseas, and they said it will come automatically. No problems.
So it arrives in the mail, and there is no chip visible. Just a plain card, with no indents or marks, front or back.
I e-mailed the message center, and they responded:
I confirm that the new card you received is a Chip and
Signature card (Chip embedded card). You might not be able
to view it as it is a metal card. You can use it
overseas.
Does this make sense to anyone, that it would be essentially an invisible chip? Or is the CSR mistaken. My question: Has anyone else received the Sapphire Preferred card with an EMV chip in the past week or so, and was the chip clearly visible?
Thanks
The EMV chip should be visible in the front, should look like this: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/SmorgasBoard/CSP-EMV-Pic-sharing/td-p/2573333
If not, i would suggest call in instead of sending a secured msg to Chase, seems to be the faster route for me everytime.
Thanks. That is what I thought, but the message they sent seemed so authroitative. Good to know.
