I've been gardening the last 2+ years working to get a handle back on things after going through some rough times. Decided it was time to get back to work on my credit and see if I could get any new cards.
As I said, rough last 2 years and I only managed to maintain one card, my Capital One Quicksilver One that I've had for 4 years now with only 3 late payments.
I lost a Capital One Platinum Secured (0 balance closed by Capital One) for the same 3 late payments, have a charge off CFNA account and charge off Verizon account on my reports still along with 4 collections on TU/EX.
I also had a bk from 2011 drop off my report along with some other collections during the last 2 years. I had no inquiries on my reports when I started.
EX FICO was 618 at the start, ended at 611.
History is for those that may be trying for cards while rebuilding.
Accepted a pre-aproved offer from Aspire for $350.
Applied and was approved for Credit One for $300.
Applied and Approved for Kohl's Card $300
I applied for a Phillips 66 Card and got the 7-10 day notice.
Applied for a Avant Card and got a "24 hour" notice and haven't heard yet.
Overall I'm happy. I'm working on getting the collections paid off and payment arrangements on the rest so I can put them behind me.
Shooting for 700+ by the end of the year!
Congrats on the approvals and progress.
Congratulations on your approvals!! Keep up the great work!
CONGRATS!!!!!
That Kohls card can grow. mine went from 300-1500 in 14 months. you can ask for a cli every 6 months. i made regular purchases with the card and usually carried a small balance.
EDIT - If you dont get the gas card and you want one try apping for the valero gas card, i got the valero gas card early in my rebuild when my scores were low, i already closed it, ymmv
Congratulations on your approvals!! Best of luck going forward in the Rebuild.
Welcome to myFICO family larrynstevens and congrats on your new approvals and your rebuild . . . many of us on this forum are rebuilders!!! I would suggest that before you pay the collections off, try to obtain a pay for deletion as TransUnion and Experian are very easy to work with and in my situation they were very understanding and even deleting some items as a courtesy. Try to stay away from Equifax, often they won't waiver and purge any items before time. Best wishes with your rebuild!!!
You'll get there in no time! Congrats on the approval
