Reconsideration For Higher Initial Credit Limit?

Has anyone had success getting a higher initial credit limit from BofA? I just applied and was approved for their Better Balance card, but the cl is only $1500. I suspect it is because I am carrying 4k in debt at the moment (split between two 0% APR cards which will expire this fall) and I didn't put in the BT request with my initial application.

I'm going to call Monday. Can anyone give me hope for good news?

Definitely call the backdoor number on Monday. They will do whatever they can to work with you. Don't be afraid to ask for more than enough to cover the BT, they will counter offer. Congrats on the approval!

CONGRATS on the approval with BOA!

There is definitely hope for a CLI. I remember when I first was approved for my BOA CC - SL was $1k. I believe I waited a month or so and called the backdoor number and received a CLI of $9k for a total of a $10,000 CL. But the catch for me was I had to agree to a HP. I asked the analyst which bureau they pulled for the CLI and she asked me if I had a preference and I chose TU. Now my BOA CC has a $17k limit and I use it quite often.

The thing I'm unsure of in your situation is being that you just applied would BOA agree to review your report from the recent app for the CLI. If so, this would save you a hard pull. Mine was over 30 days so I took the HP.

Which backdoor number would you recommend? I tried several with my last BofA card and they were always disconnected -_-

Alright, I called the backdoor number listed above and requested 5k. The analyst I spoke with pulled another report (unhappy) and advised that because the only history I have with them is a secured card of $300 (closed 3 months ago to avoid an annual fee), combined with a short credit history overall (16 months), and my current overall cl (12.5k) in relation to income... he couldn't approve me for the entire amount. He bumped it to 2.5k and advised me to call back in a couple months once I have established a good relationship with them at the higher credit limit.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I got two HP for a new 2.5k account. I'm glad I got the increase, but I feel it came at significant cost. Either way, I appreciate the advice and congratulations from you guys. Thanks!
