Just wanted to chime in on the experience Ive had 30 day approval notice that I've read here regarding the Ritz Carlton Reward Card. I have been reading the fourm for a few weeks about other members experiences on approval and today I gave it a shot. I applied today and recieved the 30 day auto response notice online, about 10 minutes after I recieved an email reiterating the same.
I am out of the country on business and to be completey honest I want this card for 2 reasons. The sex appeal of it and $0 international transaction fees because I travel abroad 6-8 months of the year on average. About a month ago I applied for Discover IT based on a match on one of my credit report profiles, I applied from Medellin Colombia so Discover made me call them and verify a bunch of information and email them a copy of my ID. I was then approved over the phone with verification for a 10K CL. Mind you my highest card limit at the time was 1.5k with Barclay Rewards, so I was pumped and had a decent CL with a $0 Intl' trasaction fee with Discover. Unfortunatley my Discover card is not accepted anywhere in Colombia so womp, womp, womp.
OK, so back to the Ritz... today after I applied, I decided to call the number to see what the robo msg says and it told me to pace around and wait 2 weeks for a decision, I thought to myself maybe I should transfer to a live CSR and explain my IP address is going to show that my application was made from out of the country and maybe I can be pro-active this go around and at the same time stick my nose through the phone and smell out my approval chances at this point.
I explained my out of the country application to the CSR who told me she would then transfer me to someone in the "Lending Team" which then verified some personal info with me, put me on hold for less than 2 minutes and said " At this time your application has been approved for a CL of $14,200, expect your card in the mail in 7-10 days" NO pacing around for this guy!!!!
Some other useful info for all of you, Today Chase only pulled my EX (Florida) My score was 691 and dropped 4 points to 687 after the pull and my total credit limit across all accounts is $18,600 (before the Ritz). I have a 4% credit utilization because I use my Cap 1 cards now with a $0 intl fee like debit cards and pay them off in full every 2-3 days from the app because they are pretty low limits and I need $0 fee buying power at all times while traveling.
Hope this information helps ppl that were in my shoes the past few weeks, Now I cant wait to make a trip home to unbox!
Smart move being proactive, OP!
