I got the card back in August with a credit line of $1500. Not too impressive, but I was happy at the time to just be approve for the MasterCard version.
I tried the 'button' a couple of times, each time I got the familiar letter "not enough experience with current credit line" or something similar. Then in November (only a few days after my second attempt with the button) I got an auto-CLI to $4850.
Fast-forward a bit, and I tried the 'button' again in February... no love. I figured I might get another auto-CLI when my next statement generates on March 23 (will be four months since last auto-CLI), but my curiosity got the best of me, and I tried the button once again just now... new credit line, $8500. ($3650 increase).
I pay the account in full each month, usually $1100-$1200. Last month when I tried the 'button', it was with a balance showing; this month I tried a few days after making my payment - I don't know if this made a difference or not.
So far the four-month rule seems to hold up as with my other Synchrony cards (at least for me), but there seems to be a little leeway if you're close, or there was this time. I know I could make a quick call to CS and they would likely give me a nice boost, but I'm holding off for now. My TU should be completely 'clean' in May (I'm currently at 718) and after that I might make the call to get it increased "once and for all". For now, though, it gives me something to look forward to every four months or so. ![]()
Thanks UncleB for the data points, Im approaching 4 months in April since my whirlwind of increases with Synchrony. Let me ask, has your TU score increase significantly since the last increase? I use my cards and pay them in full each month and while my TU score has increased 7 to 10 points, I don't know if that will be significant enough to warrant a increase. I guess I will find out soon enough, lol!

Hi Roseyk! My TU might be a few points higher than last time - as in, 5 points or so - but is mostly the same. I'm hoping for another nice CLI in four more months, since my then my last baddie should have aged off my TU report, and my score will (hopefully) get a nice bump from that.
On a separate note, last night when I got the CLI my cash advance limit was also increased from $970 to $1700, which is 20% of my new credit line. I just checked the account again, and the CLI is still there (credit line is still $8.5k) but my cash advance limit has been changed back to the previous limit of $970. This is a feature I would never have a reason to use, but I'm still a little curious as to why it is now reduced. It could be a web glitch, but if it persists I might ask them about it, especially since at first it was increased along with the overall line. Things that make you go hmmm...

Now that is interesting...perhaps calling and getting a understanding of why they decreased your cash availability is warranted. I too never have used the cash advance option on any of my credit cards, but it's nice to see it, lol! My SAMs MC cash advance is at 20% even with the CLI, but my Walmart store card is totally different. My CL is at 10K and the cash option is 200.00!!! I'm about to close Walmartt so I won't bother calling. I just love my SAMs Club card!!! I hope your decrease was done in error and they correct it! Have a great day.
Congrats UncleB
Very nice, congrats on the CLI
Sync button has always been 4 statements but why bother waiting when you can call in and probably get $25k!!
