Solved my Costco Am Ex transition today

Received the letter from Am Ex the other day designed to keep us TE card holders after the transition.

The girl on the phone said I had a prequal for the BCE I could accept if I wanted to. I said yes and did the app on the phone. I am at $15,000 on the Costco Am Ex now which was opened in January of this year.

Was approved today for a $2000 BCE, and in February can roll over all of my TE limit but $500 to the BCE.

I am at 181 days around September 22nd on my TE card,  so if I go for an $8500 increase then and am approved,  then in February roll over $23,000 from the TE card to my BCE, I will have a $25,000 Am Ex BCE card and whatever comes on the Citibank Costco Visa. The $500 TE left behind will protect my credit history.

Re: Solved my Costco Am Ex transition today

Unfortunately my Ex dropped 10 points with their pull, but I guess I'll gain it back after some payments post.

Just wanted to make sure I protect my high limit card.

Congratulations on the new card, but....

No, you don't want to do the CLI on the TE. The CL on the card to be moved from must be seasoned for 13 statements. If you run the CLI in September, it will be October 2016 before you can move the CL, and the TE may not be around at that time.

You are better off just doing a regular 3X CLI on the BCE, take it to $6k in late September, then add the $14,500 from the TE after it has 13 statements (whenever that is, based on the last CLI for the TE) to get to $20,500.

High Bal Jan 2009 $116k on $146k limits 80% Util.
Oct 2014 $46k on $127k 36% util EQ 722 TU 727 EX 727
April 2018 $18k on $344k 5% util EQ 806 TU 810 EX 812

Oh I didn't know you have to be at the same limit for 13 months.I thought the card had to be open for 13 months.
