I have literally only two positive items on my credit reports.
Loan and credit strong loan. I have a ton of closed good accounts.
I have one collection for $557 held by portfolio recovery that I refuse to pay.
My Equifax is Frozen.
My scores are Experian 666, TransUnion 657, and Equifax 655.
I was just approved for American Express silver Platinum.
WTH!
@Ramsport I guess once in a blue moon is a fact then.....![]()
Charge cards are easier approval and they get that nice annual fee from you .
Well, well, a big grats on your Amex approval ![]()
Thank you to all responding. I understand it's a charge card but it's not like how charge cards used to be where you had to pay the full amount at the end of the month. You can pay like it's a credit card and It'll just attach the fees. So it's not such a bad thing anymore.
And I know it's hard to know what you're spending limit is but if you go to their website it has a option to check your spending power and as a lark I just put in 10,000 and it was approved.
This isn't just a blue moon this is a big freaking Blue Moon.
I'm in the family.
Congratulations on your new AmEx Platinum Approval!
Congrats!
Is the Silver Platinum different than regular Platinum?
At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot I have no idea. When I did the pre-qualify this is the only one that came up.
I realize it's a charge card but like I said earlier it gives you the option of paying over time they just apply the interest in fees. It clearly says it in their terms and conditions.
And you can also check your spending limit.
That may be the only drawback. Because there's no set spending limit it's not going to help your utilization when it hits your credit reports. So I'll keep this until I have to pay the annual fee and by that point I should be good to get their other cards.
I also spoke with one of the reps and apparently there's only one silver especially for American Express.
The others are co-branded.
The one I was approved for is promoted for traveling but you don't have to travel.
And the consensus is that you need a 700 score before they'll even look at your application.
I just don't get it.
I am well aware how charge cards work . I was just stating that their charge cards are easier to qualify for then their revolvers .
Congrats for getting in the door with them it will help down the road .
