The moral of this one folks is Never Give up! So...this is how it goes...
A little over 2 weeks ago, I applied for a Citi double cash card. I was feelig pretty confident as my utilization was 8%, Experian at 732 and I had 2 inquiries in the last year. So as I hit the button I contemplated...2,000? 5,000? Maybe more! The little wheel stopped and it was...Denied!?
my heart sank in disbelief. The said they would mail me. No phone call to comfort me, but mail. How impersonal.
So 4 days later the letter shows up. The reasoning? "Too many recent inquiries" Are you kidding me? They obviously had me confused with someone else. So I call the recon # , I reach this really nice guy with a southern accent. I explained he obvious mistake. He asked me to hold on while he checked. Good, I said to myself. Finally someone with a heart. Again I contemplated...2,000? 5,000? He comes back and kindly says Sorry, it says denied and there really isn't anyting we cand do. After 20 seconds of awkward silence I thank him for his time and hung up. (at least he said sorry)
I then remembered reading on MyFico forums that you could recon by mail. Hmmmm what do I have to loose but a hard pull. I found the address, wrote a letter explaining that I only have 2 inquiries in the last year 4 in the last 2 years. Also included a copy of my Experian credit report and the rejection letter.
4 days later I got an email stating they recieved it.
Today they called me to verify some personal info. Then they said I would be contacted in 48 hours with a decision. Two hours later the called me back to let me know I was approved! BAM! Happy dance! lol
Congratulations on your approval!! Nice limit.
Tenacity and a never give up attitude are everything. I'm glad they both paid off with this situation. Congrats!! 👏🏻
Great work!
In these digital days, it's nice to see that a written letter received the old fashion way is acknowledged, processed and positive results were provided.
Seems like they were too quick to say No and really look at the facts! Congratulations!
Congratulations on your Citi Double Cash approval!
