I'm currently rebuilding after a lot of financial hardship in 2018-19 while I was unemployed. I've been lurking in these forums for years, but I started getting serious about improving my credit in Jan 2021. Around that time my scores were in the mid to high 500s.
Right now my FICO 8 scores are:
EQ: 673 TU: 689 EX: 677
I shop at Zulily fairly often, and pulled the trigger on applying for the store card in March of this year. To my surprise, I was approved with a $800 SL (my scores were in the 630 range at the time, and I currently have a Care Credit account in collections from 2018).
Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, after reading on here about Synchrony and CLIs, I decided to request a CLI since it's not a HP. I requested a CLI from $800 to $2000 and was instantly approved!
One thing to note is that I have a closed Navy Fed credit card with a balance that makes my utilization super high. The card was closed by Navy Fed during my hardship period, but I was approved for payment arrangements with them b/c of the hardship. So it's not charged off, just closed. I have been paying that balance aggressively, but that's another reason why I decided to go for the CLI to improve my utilization numbers.
Next, I was browsing on Amazon this past Saturday. I've been considering applying for the store card, but have been nervous (didn't know if it would be worth the HP if I got denied). I decided to pull the trigger since Synchrony had given me the CLI a couple weeks prior, and BAM! Instantly approved with a $2k SL! (They pulled Experian and TU)
Anway, thank you if you read my ramblings lol. I just had to share my excitement with a group who understands!
