Congrats to those with new cards and CLI if you can handle it. Remember too much of a good thing is still too much. Please don't bite off more than you can chew.
A lot of people got/get into trouble because they bit/bite off more than they could/can chew. And as soon as their scores started to increase as they rebounded from their low points, they went/go ahead and repeat the same questionable, negligent or irresponsible behavior. It is easy to app ad infinitum, but it is a lot harder to exercise patience, discipline and thought.
I understand some of the advice is intended to "help" people improve their credit profile, but going on a wild adventure of random, thoughtless apping or CLI (without knowing if it will be a SP/HP), is not a plan. And frankly a plan is what most people need. The reason a lot of people are in a financial mess is not so much that they don't make enough, it is that they exercise NO discipline. People have a heck of a lot of stuff even if they are "poor" or working class. Perhaps they don't have what some others have, but you would be hard pressed to say that the vast majority have nothing. And it is not the end of the world if when the holidays arrive, there are few gifts given. Instead of getting more credit that can ill be afforded, some of these people with "nothing" would be better advised to get on a budget, get a part time job, get rid of cable, put stuff on lay away, make their own gifts, bake some cookies and cake etc. The world will not come to an end just because they can't go into more debt to buy stuff they can't afford, probably won't use, and likely won't appreciate with their new credit.
The holidays are about family and friends sharing the joy of togetherness and being thankful for what we do have and not for what we don't. That's the essence of Thanksgiving. And Christmas used to be about Jesus' birthday and not the birthday for millions of people clamoring for stuff they don't have to have.
The problem is NOT that they don't have enough credit, but that they have too much spending not matched with enough income. Bad advice leads to bad behavior, which more often than not leads to disaster.
> Really!??? Really!?? >> REALLY!!!? > EVERYONE KNOWS THIS! INCLUDING THE MORON who is 20 years! old & said AM I CRAZZZY? I HAVE TO MUCH CREDIT!.. i always say everyone is diff! & Since you are Talking directly to me (Don't!) talk to me, u sound stupid.. ( Random adventure wild spree) it's not bad advice.. it's good advice if someone Makes bad judgements, you're gonna blame me because i gave them the Account!?... so if i'm the bank.. & i give you too nuch credit it's my fault.. if you can't control yourself or pay your bills!>? keep your Congrats and your cookies & cakes & pies
& don't choke on them!.. when i give out Blankets to the homeless in a couple of months that i bought with my credit card, i'll remeber eveything you said.>> Can't afford won't use and won't Appriciate is rite BUT that is on them!.. you Eat too Much and get fat! thats my fault too

@Anonymous wrote:Hello I am new to the forum and think it is wonderful. Up until Feb this year, I had 4 credit cards and my most recent was in 2012. In Feb, I app and was approved for a Citi Simp and in April, Citi DP. In the last few weeks I have been looking and reading the forum. I guess I was bit by the bug and went on an app spree. Last week I app for a Amex BC with a 6,500 limit. Then I tried for a Chase Slate for 3,000. I said to myself, I was done right there. The next day I app for a Chase SP for 5,000 and then a Citi DC for 3,000. Again, I was done. But, later in the week I wanted a CU card. So, I joined Penfed and got the promise card with a 2,500 limit. I was really happy with all of those approvals and I said to myself I am done and will ask for a CLI in 61 days for the Amex and app for a new Penfed of ask for a CLI before the 60 days are up. Well yesterday, I joined and app for the NASA PCR and was approved for 10,600! That was what I was looking for all along. I wanted a card with at least a 10,000 limit. Well, I didnt stop there. I was reading the forum tonight and wanted a Barclay Ring. So, I pushed my luck and app. I got the 10 day notice. As, I read on here I called the recon line and was approved for 5,000. The rep said I have a lot of inquires lately. LOL I am officially done. I think I have pushed the limit and will garden. I want these cards to mature and get a higher CL over time. All I will do is to see if I can get 3x CLI on the amex and a CLI on the PenFed in 60+ days. Good thing my new Amex is backdated to 2000 with all these new cards. Is this normal to get 7 cards in a little over 10 days?
report and they actually ding your credit score for each one. OUCH!

Thanks for the input. My AoA was 5.5 years across the board and is now 4.5 after spree. My credit scores have actually increased 30-40 pts since August and all the new cards are reported. They went from 700-720 to 740-760. So, I wasn't dinged that bad after all. And please explain how this forum is only about SP? People are applying for credit cards and posting them daily on here and that cannot be achieved without a HP.
nice run! How bad is your AAoC hit?

Just a note. This run was done in Aug, Sep this year. Banks have changed policies since then. Very old thread (by myfico standards).
