This is like many other cobrand offerings, where one's application cannot be restricted to the store version or to the general bank card version; the lender decides which one to give you. So in that sense it is not exactly accurate to say that one can apply directly for the Mastercard.

I'm thinking there are two things brewing
I remember when I applied for the BestBuy card it went thru the regular app and once approved it asked me to choose the one i wanted, Store or Visa
CONGRATULATIONS!! I've been hoping this would happen sometime. I have the store debit card, but would prefer a CC version (just not the store card). I'll be adding this one to my list...
